Why Choose Criminal Defense Lawyer Bill White?

A Word from Bill White, Criminal Defense Attorney in Austin Texas:

"My approach to the practice of criminal law was shaped by my early experience in the criminal justice system. Following law school, I was awarded a one year judicial clerkship at the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. During that year, I honed my legal research and analytical skills. I learned, in depth, criminal law, the importance of preserving trial court legal error and the procedures of an appellate court. After completing my clerkship, I then joined the Travis County District Attorney's office. During that period of time, my office was, in essence, the Travis County Courthouse. I learned the inner workings of the criminal justice system by working with judges, probation officers and law enforcement. I worked with court coordinators and the District Clerk's office and learned where each one of those offices fit within the scheme of the criminal system. I gained substantial experience trying serious criminal cases and plea bargaining from the prosecution's standpoint.

When I left the District Attorney's Office as a felony trial court chief, I understood criminal law from the point of view of judges, prosecutors and others within the system. You cannot overestimate the value of that experience in defending someone accused of a crime. I have been defending criminal cases for the past 25 years. I do not operate a high volume practice. I handle each case personally with the help of a legal assistant who is involved in every aspect of the case. When necessary I associate with a number of other professionals including investigators, psychologists, psychiatrists, fingerprint and DNA experts, certified fraud analysts and others. Although I have represented doctors, lawyers, CEOs, corporations and business executives, I mainly defend ordinary citizens charged with crimes. I like standing between my client and the power of the state or federal government."
